1st blog post

 Hi, I am Katie Malone. I thought I would use my 1st blog post to say a bit about myself and respond to the welcome back meeting today.

I am a dancer from North Wales and I am trained in multiple styles (ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and commercial/ jazz funk). I have just graduated this year from the Northern Ballet school in Manchester, so as you can guess we didn't get a normal third year or a graduation. 

I am excited to start this course as I am eager to learn more about my practice and learn some new skills. Initially, I was slightly overwhelmed by the course as it seems to not have a specific end point. However, I now understand that you won't know the end product until you get there. This makes me excited to see where I end up and what skills I will learn and develop over this course along with the new information I will find and the questions I will ask. It definitely helped talking to the module 2s and 3s, as it has made me much more at ease with what I have to do- thank you for the advice!

    Hi Katie, I am also starting Module One! I am sorry to hear that you didn't get the 'normal' third year graduation that you should have had, but after reading your post I can tell how much passion you have for dance. I also feel slightly overwhelmed, but I am excited to explore and see where this road will take us! x

    Hi Katie! I'm a Module one who graduated this year too! It was a bit of an anti climax wasn't it! All those years of hard work to end without a full celebration but at least we are all safe.. that's what matters most. I find it easing, knowing I'm not the only one overwhelmed but we will get there!

    Hi Katie I have just started the course and am tackling Module 1. I was in Greece up until 31st October - so I have missed the beginning of the course and am now slightly worried ! I have managed to set up my blog so any advice or comments feedback etc would be great. It is so good to read how your blog has developed and gives me the confidence that I can do it !

 Starting back into module 3 is extremely daunting but I am interested to find out how I manage with the new challenge of conducting the inquiry.  Hi, here are my raw notes from the zoom recording of the analysis and data module 3 discussion group. Hopefully they make sense! ANALYSIS AND DATA MOD 3 ZOOM RECORDING NOTES: 1.      Data, analysis, reflection and relationship of those three things, and what to do with your things once you’d gathered it. 2.      Reflection= critical part of analysis. 3.      You interpret it. Shouldn’t be including raw data as such, quotes can be included but it is more reflection what you have gathered ad what it means to you. module 2 initial rough thoughts

 Throughout the past 2 weeks I have read through the handbook, brainstormed some very vague ideas for the topic of my future enquiry, and have read the first few chapters of 'Doing your Research Project' By Judith Bell and Stephen Waters (highly recommend this book), along with beginning reading the Kortext book for this module. This module is definitely over-whelming especially with the amount of literature required to read and the increase in workload, and I found it difficult to put down various ideas, but here are my initial thoughts.   Some vague ideas for topics for my enquiry are: - How nutrition and exercise/ movement can impact our mental health this could flow into social views/ diet culture/ how it can impact performers going from being employed and active to being not/ how being this active can impact both the body and mind and what people feel like helps/ the 'ideal' diet - perfectionism and how this can affect dancers/ performers becoming the best artist ...
